The grapes for this exceptional wine were harvested from old vine Garnacha vineyards that cling to rugged terrain on the slopes of the famous Moncayo mountain. Low yields of less than two tons per acre produce a rich deeply colored and aromatic wine with concentrated flavors blackberries, strawberries and nuances of leather, vanilla and plums.

Today's wine is another in the long line of excellent and affordable Spanish Garnacha, this time from the Campo de Borja DO. This area is so renowned for it's excellent old vine Garnacha that according to Wine-Searcher.com the locals have given it the nickname "El Imperio de la Garnacha", or "The Empire of Garnacha". I like it, and I really like this wine.
The 2019 Bodegas Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha begins with an enticing aroma of berry, cedar and spice along with a bit of a vegetal note.
My first thought on tasting this smooth, balanced, tasty and rather elegant wine was simply, "Yum!". Featuring similar flavors to the nose you'll also find nice streaks of vanilla, chocolate and smoke. It's really tasty and gains complexity with air.
The finish is dry, a bit grippy and long.
