We've been exploring Vinho Verde from just about every angle we could over the last couple months. And yet despite numerous posts on the topic there's still more to explore. Today's wine, made from the second grape featured in our Grapes of Vinho Verde post, is another eye-opener.
The 2014 Casal de Ventozela Loureiro begins with a pleasant aroma of grapefruit, melon, apple and tropical fruit aromas plus a few floral notes. The wine tastes of grapefruit, melon, grass and lime and is quite tasty. It's a bit like a nice Sauvignon Blanc with some added fizz that makes it quite refreshing. It ends with a crisp and fresh finish. Yet another side of the multi-faceted Vinho Verde region that is worthy of exploration.
