Cecchi La Mora Vermentino - Sophisticated Summer Refreshment

By: Jon Thorsen Published: March 21, 2019 Last Updated: May 27, 2021

It may only be the second day of spring but that won't stop us from looking forward to the wines of summer! The Cecchi La Mora Vermentino should be on your short list.

Cecchi La Mora Vermentino - Sophisticated Summer Refreshment

90% Vermentino and 10% other white varietals from Tuscany, Italy. The wine spends a short amount of time in stainless steel and then two months in bottle before release.

Sample submitted for review. The Cecchi La Mora Vermentino Maremma Toscana has an SRP of $19 and is available for as low as $13. Imported by Terlato Wines International. 8,000 cases produced.

    From the bottle:

The Cecchi family grows and produces its Vermentino grapes along the picturesque Maremma coast, an important, emerging wine-growing region of southern Tuscany. La Mora Vermentino expresses unmistakable varietal characters of succulent summer fruits and fresh minerality. Perfect as an aperitif or with seafood dishes. Best served at 53F.

    13% Alcohol

The 2017 Cecchi La Mora Vermentino opens with a pleasing aroma chock full of lemon along with a little apple and pear. In the mouth the wine leans more on the citrus side with a good dash of tropical fruit and a nice smooth and round mouthfeel. Just don't make the mistake of drinking this one too cold as it mutes the flavors. We sampled it straight out of the fridge and it was a different wine once it warmed up a bit. A nice streak of minerality leads into a quite long, lingering finish of tropical fruit and lemon. Summer can't come quick enough!
