From the bottle:
Chateau Pascaud is a fine, single varietal wine produced exclusively from Merlot. The soil on which our grapes ripens is of the clayey-gravel type near the Fronsac terroir. This wine has great aromatic purity; the nose expresses notes of black fruit with blueberry aromas that evolve into spicy. The palate is generous and concentrated with a structure endowed with silky tannins of great elegance. The finish is persistent with aromas of toasted coffee beans and cocoa.

The 2023 Chateau Pascaud Bordeaux Superieur opens with a very attractive aroma full of dark berry fruit (blueberry, blackberry) plus some nice floral notes and baking spice plus a light oaky touch. It’s a good start.
The wine tastes similar when drinking. It’s a bit oaky, spicy and tannic right now, which we enjoyed, but another year or two should harmonize that a bit more. Full bodied, smooth and with nice depth, this is a nice Bordeaux Superieur with some age-ability for just $14!
It ends dry, grippy and long and was a bit smoother and more harmonious on day 2 where it wasn’t quite as oaky.
