This wine used to be a staple for us but we haven’t tried it in several years. I still find it pretty amazing they can pull off 24 months in mostly oak barrels (and 20% new) for just $12. Let’s check it out.

The 2021 Chateau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a very attractive and distinctive aroma (which isn’t easy to do at this price) of black cherry, a little blackberry, some nice spice and a touch of a smoky note.

Tasting the wine reveals a smooth, soft mouthfeel and similar flavors to the nose. It’s not as oaky as some of the other vineyard designate bottlings which helps makes it more easily accessible. This is a crowd pleaser that would go great with a burger.

It ends dry and long on the pleasing finish and was just as good on day 2. This is still quite good and continues to offer tons of value.
