Compass Bridge Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon From Trader Joe's

Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, California. The wine has some sort of oak influence but there’s no information available as to how much or what kind.

The Compass Bridge Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon is available exclusively at Trader Joe’s and sells for $9.99. The wine is produced by Delicato Family Vineyards and appears to at least be partially made and bottled at one of Delicato’s Francis Coppola Winery locations according to the COLA information.

From Trader Joe’s:

2023 Compass Bridge Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

When one sees the green, gently rolling hills of Sonoma County, it’s easy to imagine why vineyards take so well to its idyllic environment and diversity of soils. And when one sips some of the wines produced in Sonoma, like the trio of wines under the Compass Bridge label, it’s easy to see why this region has become so globally renowned.

Compass Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon, for example, touts flavors of ripe red currant, juicy blackberry, and spicy anise which combine with espresso aromatics and a toasty, oaky finish to make one seriously satisfying red that pairs particularly well with Ribeye and aged Cheddars.

The 2023 Compass Bridge Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a lot of very ripe red fruit on the nose along with some anise, a little spice and lots of cola. It’s nice but it’s definitely not a classic Cab aroma so let’s take a taste and see.

Taking a sip reveals the wine to be soft, with maybe a touch of residual sugar, but it’s pretty tasty overall. It’s juicy and balanced with well-integrated spice. The wine is not very complex but it is easy to drink and sure makes a nice burger wine. A crowd-pleaser. While the aroma wasn’t necessarily conventional, it all works when tasting.

The wine ends dry, soft and relatively long with a little lingering spice and was just as good on day 2.
