Domaine Bousquet Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon - Rich and Tasty

By: Jon Thorsen Published: August 7, 2021 Last Updated: August 7, 2021

A fruit forward Cab from Argentina, the Domaine Bousquet Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon. Organic and vegan too.

Domaine Bousquet Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon - Rich and Tasty

100% Cabernet Sauvignon organically grown in estate vineyards at 4,000 feet of altitude in Tupungato, Alto Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is aged in French oak for 8-10 months. It has just 3.02 g/L of residual sugar and is vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Bousquet has an SRP of $20 but is available for as low as $14. It is imported by WISD LLC.

    From the bottle:

GAIA, the Greek goddess of the earth, has been the Bousquet family's inspiration since founding our winery 1997 when we pioneered and cleared virgin land in the high reaches of Tupungato's Gualtallary district. From the start, our Gaia wines have been crafted with a French winemaking sensibility and made from organic fruit grown at a cool 1,200-m/4,000-ft altitude.

Brilliant sunshine and huge shifts in day-to-night temperatures combine to create a perfect marriage of Old and New World characteristics. GAIA Cabernet Sauvignon is made from our best, hand-harvested fruit. Superb structure, length, and mouth-filling black and red fruit make this wine a Cabernet stand-out.

Produced and Bottled by Domaine Bousquet SA
    15% Alcohol

The 2018 Domaine Bousquet Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a pleasing aroma of black cherry, graphite, cola, spice and a little vanilla.

This fruit forward Cab tastes of blackberry, black cherry and other red berry fruit that is rich and even a bit sweet tasting in this quite dry wine.

It ends dry and long and was even a bit better on day 2. You might also want to check out our reviews of the Gaia Cabernet Franc and Gaia Red Blend.
