The 2022 vintage of Ace of Spades is juicy, vibrant, fruit-forward. Rich and sophisticated aromas of cassis, black fruit, and cedar intermingle with delicate hints of sweet tobacco and violet, setting the stage for what’s to come.
On the palate, it bursts with layers of dark blackberry and black raspberry, complemented by subtle herbal, caramel, and vanilla undertones. Its structure is beautifully balanced, with a pure fruit core supported by polished, supple tannins. Medium to full-bodied, this vintage of Ace of Spades has a seamless texture and refined elegance, finishing clean and dry, leaving you eager for the next sip.

And now on to our review:
The 2022 Ace of Spades Perrin + Dobbs Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a pleasing and harmonious aroma of dark fruit, licorice, cedar and spice. After some swirling you’ll also find a little vanilla, mint and tobacco too. It’s a great start.
Tasting the wine reveals this to be an excellent example of Paso Robles Cabernet. Medium to full bodied, it features lots of juicy dark fruit with good depth plus a smooth mouthfeel. More licorice, some oaky spice and a little tobacco and black pepper round things out in this layered, yet easy to drink wine.
It ends dry and just a bit grippy on the long finish. It was just as good on day 2. This is a solid 9 on our Taste Rating scale, coming in at 92-points. Get it while you can.
