Estate grown & bottledTasting Notes: Super deep dark color. Brambly black fruit with mixed mountain berries and earthy notes of leather along with chocolate. Plush and rounded with savory notes of smoked meat. Pairs well with leaner meats like roasted chicken and pork loin. Try with aged Cheddar or smoked Gouda.
Aged in 20% new American Oak and 10% new French oak.

Estate grown & bottledTasting Notes: Pomegranate, black berries, and cranberries. Hints of toasted herbs, sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, and smoky wood. Soft well integrated tannins. Pairs well with grilled lamb and gyros or smoked pork shoulder with hardy sauce. Try with aged Dutch Gouda or gorgonzola.
Aged in 30% new French oak.

And now on to our reviews:
The 2021 and 2022 Frog’s Tooth Sierra Foothills Syrah both open with aromas of super ripe, harmonious and enticing dark fruit. You’ll also find touches of spice, vanilla and more but the nose on these are mostly about the intoxicating rich fruit notes. It’s a great start.
Taking a sip reveals more of the same in the mouth with tons of ripe, rich, juicy dark fruit. Both wines also have most of those same other touches from the nose with a bit more spice in the mouth, especially on the 2022. Super smooth and nicely balanced, the main difference between the two is just that the 2022 needs more time to open up. Both are really delicious.
Both vintages end dry, juicy, a bit grippy and very long and were similar on day 2. We put both at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating at 92-93 points.
