Le Garenne Sancerre Blanc - Pure Fruit Pleasure

By: Jon Thorsen Published: July 13, 2021 Last Updated: January 25, 2023

A refreshing find from Costco, the Le Garenne Sancerre Blanc.

Le Garenne Sancerre Blanc - Pure Fruit Pleasure

Single vineyard, dry-farmed Sauvignon Blanc (100%) from Verdigny in Sancerre, Loire Valley, France. The wine is made in stainless steel and does not spend any time in oak. It has less than 2 g/L of residual sugar and a minimal amount of sulfites (<75 ppm).

Sample submitted for review. The Le Garenne Sancerre Blanc is available at Costco for $16.99. No Costco in your area? Check your local retailers for this wine. It is imported by Asgram.

    From the bottle:

Follow Le Garenne under the Oak Tree and experience pure authenticity, Loire Valley style.

This blend of 100% Sauvignon Blanc offers you a memorable moment of conviviality. A delicate and complex Sancerre with great depth of fruit; the boisterous green aromatics often found in Sauvignon Blanc have been skillfully restrained, allowing fruity layers of green apples and lemons to show through. The wine comes from Verdigny at the hear of goat cheese country so is ideal with a soft tangy 'crottin'. Also great with delicate flat fish in a caper sauce. Crafted by Laurent Reverdy, 6th generation of Sancerre winemaker.

    12.5% Alcohol

The 2019 Le Garenne Sancerre Blanc opens with lovely green apple notes plus some pleasing lemon and tropical fruit.

Taking a sip reveals a tasty and tangy wine featuring good depth of flavor on the fruit, good balance and good acidity. Fun to drink and satisfying, this is Sauvignon Blanc without the grassiness, just pure fruit pleasure.

It ends dry and quite long with lingering tart fruit and just a touch of a chalky note. This is quite refreshing stuff.

No Costco in your area? Check your local retailers for this wine.
