A $7 steal from Trader Joe's, Les Portes de Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc.
Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux, France.
This wine is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and sells for $7.49, up from the $5.99 price when we tried it a few years ago. It is imported by Latitude Wines, Inc.
Les Portes de Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc, comes from one of the largest Chateaux in the Bordeaux appellation. Our winemaker set out to make a crisp, citrusy white wine that's simultaneously typical of the region and an exceptional example of the varietal. Success in this endeavor is evident on the nose, in the mouth, and in the finish. Tangy and fresh, with lemon and grapefruit notes, the wine is lively, aromatic and characteristically balanced acidity. Enjoy this wine with fish, shellfish, or light pasta dishes.

Today's wine has been a staple at Trader Joe's for a number of years, but one that we haven't reviewed since the 2017 vintage. At the time it was quite a steal at just $5.99. With the price now up to $7.49 let's see if it still falls into the "Steal" category.
The 2021 Les Portes de Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc begins with aromas of citrus, lemongrass and melon. It's quite nice and quite sauvignon blanc-ish (meaning you know the variety as soon as you smell it).
The wine tastes crisp, fruity, creamy and good. Green apple, lemon, more melon and touches of tropical fruit combine nicely in this really flavorful, zesty wine.
It ends dry, long and persistent on the lip-smacking finish. And while it received a higher overall rating at the $5.99 price, it's still worth every penny at $7.49.
