A highly recommended sparkling wine, the Mumm Napa Blanc de Blancs.
90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Gris sparkling wine from Napa Valley, California. The wine is made using the méthode champenoise like Champagne where the secondary fermentation that creates the bubbles happens in the bottles, in this case over 18 months. It has 9.5 g/L of residual sugar.
Sample submitted for review. The Mumm Napa Blanc de Blancs has an SRP of $24 and is available for as low as $17.
Blanc de blancs, meaning "white of whites" refers to Champagne or sparkling wine made only from white grapes, as opposed to a mix of red (usually Pinot Noir) and white grapes or a blanc de noirs which uses all red grapes.
Crafted exclusively from fine white Napa grapes, our elegant "white of whites" sparkles with golden apple and exotic citrus flavors, underscored by a lovely, biscuity toastiness. Blanc de Blancs is an inspired choice for a spontaneous afternoon picnic or a stylish sushi spread.

The non-vintage Mumm Napa Blanc de Blancs opens with a bright, attractive aroma of pear, citrus (lemon and lime and a little orange zest) and just a touch of fresh baked bread.
Taking a sip reveals a crisp, clean and very tasty wine with the perfect amount of bubbles and good acidity. In the mouth it has similar flavors to the nose but trends more towards apple and pear.
It ends crisp, dry and delicious. This is highly quaffable but also features enough complexity to keep it quite interesting.
