Two organic boxed wines with tiny price tags, the Natural Origins Malbec and Natural Origins Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Bousquet.

Natural Origins Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon Box Wines – Naturally Good

100% Malbec and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon in 3L boxes. Made from grapes grown organically at 4000ft of altitude Tupungato, Alto Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina by the foothills of the Andes.

Samples submitted for review. Both boxes have an SRP of $20 (the equivalent of just $5 per 750ml bottle) and can be found for well under $20, including for just $14.89 at Costco. While there is no vintage given on the boxes, both are from the 2019 vintage. Imported by WISD LLC.

From the box:

Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina’s exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1200 masl. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic. The wine has red and black fruit aromas with spicy notes. Medium body with ripe fruit and a pleasant finish.

First up we’ve got the Domaine Bousquet Natural Origins Malbec.

Domaine Bousquet Natural Origins Malbec

The wine begins with a bit of a funky aroma but also raisin-y dark fruit and almost a bit of a nutty note. It’s a bit strange at first sniff quite honestly but it evens out with some air.

Tasting shows much more of what you’d expect with dark fruit, a bit on juicy side, and decent depth of flavor. Some nice spice notes lead into the dry, medium-long finish. It’s pretty tasty for this low of a price.

Next we’ve got the Domaine Bousquet Natural Origins Cabernet Sauvignon.

Domaine Bousquet Natural Origins Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine begins begins with pleasing aroma of dark fruit, a little spice and a touch of a green note.

Tasting reveals a simple, dry Cab with not a lot of depth to it and a bit of spice. I was hoping for a bit more but at the end of the day it’s solid for the price. Thanks to that low price it ekes out a recommended buy rating on our scale. It ends dry with pretty good length.
