The 2016 Kenwood Vineyards Sonoma County Merlot begins with lots of jammy fruit, nice spice and a little black pepper.
Taking a sip reveals a simple and tasty medium to full-bodied wine that is quite good for the price. It features lots of juicy fruit (blackberry and black cherry mainly) plus licorice, nicely integrated spice and a soft, smooth mouthfeel. It ends with a long, dry and even a bit dusty finish.
