Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir – Highly Appealing

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: February 13, 2019

A great example of New Zealand Pinot Noir from Marlborough, the Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir.

Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir – Highly Appealing

100% Pinot Noir from Hay Block, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand. The wine was barrel aged in 25% new French oak for approximately 12 months and has residual sugar of just 2.5 g/L.

Sample submitted for review. The Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir has an SRP of $22 and is available for as low as $16. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Imported by Constellation Imports.

From the bottle:

Icon Pinot Noir is rich, full-bodied and complex, with excellent structure and balance.

Aromas of cherries, plums and chocolate lead to ripe dark fruit flavours with silky tannins, and a touch of toasty oak on the finish.

Nobilo Icon wines are made from the very best fruit from our Marlborough vineyard sites each vintage, and represent the pinnacle of Nobilo winemaking. A perfect match for rack of lamb, or richly flavoured seafood dishes, this Icon Pinot Noir can be cellared for up to 5 years.

13.5% Alcohol

The 2015 Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir begins with a pleasing, inviting aroma of strawberry, cherry cola, earth, lots of mint and a little rhubarb. The wine tastes rather soft and delicate in the mouth with nice fruit similar to the nose plus a little citrus. Nicely integrated oaky spice notes lead into the dry, long finish of lingering sweet plums and cola with a hint of the rhubarb and mint from the nose returning at the very end. This is a highly appealing example of Marlborough Pinot Noir!

Ready to buy the Nobilo Icon Marlborough Pinot Noir? Check your local retailers.
