INSIDER DEAL! Pedroncelli Mixed Reds – Jackpot!

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: January 13, 2021

Our most compelling deal to date! 6 different wines, all Bulk Buy rated, from one of our very favorite and most popular producers, Pedroncelli Winery.

INSIDER DEAL! Pedroncelli Mixed Reds - Jackpot!

Welcome to pure liquid delight…

This is truly a no-brainer, auto-buy, can’t miss deal. We’ve offered a number of different wines from Pedroncelli in the past and they have consistently been some of our most popular offers.

Today; however, we have a rather unique deal in that we have 6 different red wines for you. These include the Alto Vineyards Sangiovese, the Family Vineyards Petite Sirah, the Barrel Select Cabernet Franc, the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, the Three Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the Mother Clone Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel.

It’s the perfect chance to try some new wines and varieties. Many of these are pretty much only available directly through the winery and all of them have a long history of high scores and gold medals including a 94 point score for the vintage of the Mother Clone Zin that is part of today’s deal.

Normally retailing between $18 and $22 per bottle, today’s deal gets you all 6 bottles for just $74.99 (only $12.50/bottle) plus $5 shipping.

This is a 35% discount off the already reasonable SRP. Add in the savings from our super low $5 shipping and your total savings go up to 42%!

This 6-pack deal is available to ship to the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV and WY. (These states are dependent on the individual licenses of the offering winery. Future deals may have more or less states available.)

This is a limited time, winery direct offer facilitated by our friends at Wine Country Connect. Sale ends Friday 1/15 at noon (PST) unless it sells out sooner. Shipping is a flat $5 per order no matter how many 6-packs you buy.

Clicking on the buy button above will take you to the site winedealmaker.com for checkout. If you don't see the embedded buy box click here to order. Once there you can also adjust the quantity of 6-packs in your order by using the "Click To Update Cart" link at the top of the screen.

First up is the 2018 Pedroncelli Alto Vineyards Sangiovese which comes from the estate Alto Vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. The wine is aged 10 months in neutral American oak barrels.

2018 Pedroncelli Alto Vineyards Sangiovese

From the bottle:

Our family has called Sonoma County home since 1927. We've been making wine for four generations and sharing them with generations of wine lovers. Hand picked from steep terraced hillsides, known as the Alto Vineyards, this medium bodied Sangiovese exhibits flavors of ripe berry, plum and a hint of cocoa.

Produced and Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
14.7% Alcohol

The 2018 Pedroncelli Alto Vineyards Sangiovese begins with pleasing aromas of bright red cherry and licorice plus a touch of cranberry and spice as well as a hint of wet earth.

Taking a sip reveals juicy candied cherry and strawberry notes that turn a bit tart in the mouth. Featuring nice touches of spice and vanilla, soft tannins, and a smooth mouthfeel this is very easy to drink and food friendly. It opens up very nicely with more layers revealing themselves after a couple hours in the glass. (In fact, it opened up so well that this one was just a hair away from a perfect 10 taste rating.)

It ends dry and long with some lingering spice and touches of toasty oak under the slightly tart fruit. Yummy, yummy, yummy! It may not be tremendously complex but this is pure liquid delight.

Next up is the 2018 Pedroncelli Family Vineyards Petite Sirah which comes from two Pedroncelli family vineyards (estate and the Bushnell Vineyard) in the Dry Creek Valley. The wine was aged for 16 months in small American oak barrels, 35% of which were new.

2018 Pedroncelli Family Vineyards Petite Sirah

From the bottle:

Sourced and hand picked grapes from two Family Vineyards give this full bodied Petite Sirah a rich, deep and complex array of flavors with ripe plum, white pepper and a hint of chocolate.

Produced and Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
14.3% Alcohol

The 2018 Pedroncelli Family Vineyards Petite Sirah begins with a lovely aroma of dark fruit, spice, vanilla and smoke plus a little cedar and chocolate.

The wine tastes juicy, savory and a bit smoky. Full bodied, and nicely balanced, the wine is full of rich dark fruit and features lots of interwoven spice. It really opens up nicely after a couple of hours in the glass. This is quite a nice example of Petite Sirah.

It ends with a dry, long and slightly chewy finish with lots of long lasting spice notes under the fruit. Like all the Pedroncelli wines, it is just a delight to drink and definitely overdelivers for the price.

Third we've got the 2017 Pedroncelli Barrel Select Cabernet Franc from estate vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. The wine spends 17 months in a combination of new (30%) and seasoned French oak barrels.

2017 Pedroncelli Barrel Select Cabernet Franc

From the bottle:

Hand-picked from estate vines along the bench of Dry Creek Valley where gravelly loam and climate provide near perfect conditions. Our Cabernet Franc shows ripe berry aromas and rich flavors of plum and warm spice.

Produced and Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
14.2% Alcohol

The 2017 Pedroncelli Barrel Select Cabernet Franc opens with an excellent aroma of enticing spicy dark fruit (plum, black cherry) with just a bit of that signature Cab Franc greenness.

Taking a sip reveals this to be lovely, savory stuff -- what a great example of Cabernet Franc! Wonderfully balanced, with plenty of well-integrated oak in the form of baking spice, vanilla and more plus black pepper and lots of dark, juicy fruit, this is just delicious. Smooth and just a bit tannic, it even has a touch of earthiness.

It ends dry and quite long. Like all the Pedroncelli wines this one also has some pretty good aging potential. I loved it and it makes a great change up from Cabernet Sauvignon!

Fourth we've got the 2018 Pedroncelli Signature Selection Russian River Valley Pinot Noir which was aged 9 months in small French oak barrels, 25% of which were new.

2018 Pedroncelli Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

From the bottle:

Sourced from excellent Russian River Valley vineyards, our elegant and medium bodied Pinot Noir exhibits cherry and warm spice flavors, framed by moderate tannins and toasted oak accents.

Produced and Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
13.5% Alcohol

The fantastic 2018 Pedroncelli Russian River Valley Pinot Noir begins with a very pleasing aroma of strawberry, cola, spice and a bit of an earthy and woodsy note.

Tasting reveals this to be pretty classic Russian River Valley (RRV) Pinot which is a very good thing. It features a spicy, minty palate of strawberry and plum, good acidity and a smooth mouthfeel. To my taste, it offers pretty much a perfect mix of fruit and oak influence – it doesn't go overboard on the oak like you find in many RRV Pinots.

It ends dry and long with more fruit, hints of toasty oak and long lasting touches of spice and mint. This is excellent Pinot and maybe even a bit better than the 2017 we previously offered! It would go great with lots of different foods but that one that especially came to mind when tasting it was a big, juicy burger.

The fifth bottle in today's Insider Deal is the 2018 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, a blend of 90% Zinfandel and 10% Petite Sirah from Dry Creek Valley.

The grapes come from a ranch planted to Zinfandel since 1904 and purchased by John Pedroncelli Sr in 1927. Most of the vineyard was re-planted in the 80s using vines cloned from the originals (hence the name) but the wine also includes fruit from the remaining 110+ year-old "Mother" vines. It spends 12 months in American oak, 30% of which is new.

2018 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

From the bottle:

Hand picked from hillside vineyards, our old-vine Mother Clone Zinfandel is a great expression of Dry Creek Valley character, balancing jammy blackberry flavors and black pepper spice.

Produced and Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
14.8% Alcohol

The 2018 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel begins with a beautiful mix of aromas that sucks you right into the glass. Blackberry, plum, baking spice and touches of vanilla all combine seamlessly.

Taking a sip reveals a smooth, lovely, medium to full-bodied wine filled with juicy dark berry fruit, more wonderfully integrated spice and a little cola. It's flavorful but not over the top and quite well-balanced. Black pepper and a touch of smoke lead into the dry, very long finish of this fantastic wine.

And while it's drinking amazingly well now, we know from experience that the wines from Pedroncelli get even better with age!

And finally we have the 2018 Pedroncelli Three Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec from estate vineyards in the northern end of Dry Creek Valley. The wine is aged for 16 months in 70% used American oak and 30% new French oak.

(Please note that the vintage offered in this deal is the 2018 but we unfortunately do not have an updated tasting note so the photo and notes below are of the 2017 vintage, which is very similar in style and rating.)

INSIDER DEAL! Pedroncelli Three Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon - A No-Brainer

From the bottle:

A blend of classic varietals from three Dry Creek Valley vineyard sites are combined for a rich flavored wine framed by ripe plum and raspberry fruit, bright acidity and toasted oak notes.

Produced & Bottled by Pedroncelli Winery
14.2% Alcohol

The 2017 Pedroncelli Three Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a very inviting aroma of ripe dark berries plus succulent notes of dried herbs and flowers and even a little spice, cola and vanilla.

This delicious, medium-bodied wine is super drinkable with dark fruit fruit and wonderful spice notes plus great balance. It ends with a dry, grippy and long finish. I think it has some nice aging potential over the next 5 years or so too. This is quite an amazing bargain at this low price
