Nebbiolo is, of course, the grape behind the famed Barbaresco and Barolo wines of Piedmont. And while those wines are priced mostly above our $20 limit, Langhe Nebbiolo offers an opportunity to coveted grape at a much more reasonable price. Let's check this one out.
The 2018 Pertinace Langhe Nebbiolo begins with an excellent aroma that sucks you right into the glass. It's full of red berry fruit, licorice, leather and a little mint plus some nice savory herbal notes.
Taking a sip reveals a tasty, savory, delicious wine with juicy fruit flavors similar to the nose, a smooth mouthfeel with grippy tannins and a little bit of earthiness under the fruit. This is wonderful.
It ends with a dry, long, savory, grippy finish. I love it.
