Quinta da Garrida Reserva Tinto - Watch It Blossom

70% Touriga Nacional and 30% Tinta Roriz from Dao, Portugal. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French and Russian oak barrels.

This wine has an SRP of $35 and is available for as low as $13. Imported by Tri-Vin Imports. Sample submitted for review.

    From the bottle:

Produced in the Dao Region of Central Portugal, from a blend of Touriga-Nacional and Tinta-Roriz, from our single estate near the Serra da Estrela mountain. It was aged 12 months in russian and french oak barrels to give a deep colour and high complexity.

    14% Alcohol

The 2011 Alianca Quinta da Garrida Reserva Tinto begins with a very pleasant aroma of ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and a little oaky spice. Tasting the wine reveals it to be very smooth and rich with good balance. It features lots of ripe deep fruit interlaced with excellent spice notes. While the wine needs some time in the glass to really open up, when it does, it blossoms. It ends dry, a bit dusty and with very good length.
