Chenin Blanc from South Africa is another one of those sleeper variety/region pairings that Reverse Wine Snobs should be all over. (Others include Spanish Garnacha, Washington State Merlot and California Petite Sirah just to name a few.) It's been a while since we've featured a South African Chenin Blanc but today we've got a great example.
The 2018 Riebeek Cellars Chenin Blanc opens with a fresh and aromatic bouquet filled with floral notes, pink grapefruit and guava. Just like the nose, the wine tastes fresh, crisp and delicious. The flavors turn a bit more to citrus in the mouth. Uncomplicated and easy to drink, this is a highly refreshing wine. Spring can't come soon enough! It ends with a crisp, zesty finish. Perfectly quaffable indeed.
