The Roustabout Meritage is available exclusively at Trader Joe’s and still sells for just $7.99. It is made by Miller Family Wine Company who produce brands like J. Wilkes, Butternut and Smashberry.

With silky tannins and exceptional texture, this wine opens with notes of black cherries, wild blueberries, and cigar box, finishing with nuances of dark chocolate and espresso.

We last reviewed the 2021 vintage of this wine, so let’s see how the most recent vintage compares.

The 2024 Roustabout Paso Robles Meritage is a bit bit rough at first pop and pour and definitely needs some air but after a couple hours to breathe it reveals a pleasing aroma of dark fruit that’s a bit ripe and jammy plus lots of cola and a little spice, mint, tobacco and white pepper.

Taking a sip reveals that while is this not a super deep or complex wine, it’s balanced enough and easy to drink. You’ll find more dark fruit and lots more cola in the mouth along with nice touches of spice throughout.

It ends dry and with decent length and was similar on day 2. While it’s not very refined and a bit rough even after it has time to breathe, it’s still worth the very low price.
