From Trader Joe's:
Our buyers traverse the globe in search of sip-worthy wine values to WOW our customers, and Sauvignon Republic is no exception to the rule. Pour a glass of this light yellow, 100% estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc and you’ll taste an eminently drinkable wine that’s aromatic and bright, offering intense tropical notes of kiwi and tangy grapefruit, with lush layers of white peach, underscored by a clean, refreshing finish. It’s no wonder we’ve brought new vintages to our shelves for 11 years and counting—it really is that good.
Sauvignon Republic’s mouthwatering minerality and fresh herb notes make it an elegant selection for springtime celebrations—it’s especially suited to green salads and crunchy crudites.
As Trader Joe's notes above, this wine has been around for a long time; in fact, the last time we reviewed it was the 2013 vintage! Let's jump ahead to the 2021 (which is still just $7.99 a bottle) and see how it tastes.
The 2021 Sauvignon Republic Sauvignon Blanc begins with classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc aromas like tropical fruit, lemongrass and a little honeysuckle.
Tasting reveals a smooth, flavorful and fresh wine with good acidity. It features more tropical fruit and lemongrass plus a whole lot of citrus flavors soaked in luscious honey.
It ends crisp with medium length and perhaps just a touch of chalkiness. This is a wine that makes your mouth (and your wallet) happy!
