From the bottle:

With a Barossa heritage of six generations, and years of carefully planned vineyard development, it’s little wonder that Thorn-Clarke produces fine and true examples of the wines that have made this region world famous. When our ancestor James Goddard discovered gold in 1870 in Barossa at the Lady Alice mine, so began a family dynasty intrigued by geology. A fine legacy that is reflected today in the family’s expertise in producing wines that characterise the individual terroir of our vineyards. Our Shotfire range of wines immortalises the shotfirer’s hazardous job of setting and lighting the charges in the mines. As he cried ‘fire’s on’ to clear the site quickly, he would run for shelter behind the nearest ridge.

We carefully selected the fruit for our Shotfire Quartage during March and April, before blending the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot components in the traditional style.

14.5% Alcohol

The 2015 Shotfire Quartage from Thorn-Clarke begins with a very enticing aroma of black cherry, blackberry, spice, leather and more. The full-bodied wine tastes rich and delicious. It’s super smooth in the mouth with lovely integrated spice, cedar and dried herbs in addition to plenty more juicy dark berry fruit. This is one serious wine! Grippy, yet silky sweet tannins along with notes of chocolate and vanilla lead into the dry, very long finish.
