Like so many of the wines we have been reviewing from TJ’s and Aldi lately, this is another one that comes from Precision Wine Co.

The 2022 Sonoma Grove Zinfandel opens with aromas of jammy dark berry fruit and lots of oak influence (vanilla, chocolate, etc). File this one strictly in the mass market grocery store style of Zin. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if you’re in the mood for it, but it’s not our preferred style.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be slightly sweet, jammy and quite oaky with similar flavors to the nose. It tastes a bit manufactured to me since it’s a bit out of balance and I’m guessing there are some additions here of either powdered oak and/or a bit of sugar in some form (Rubired?). Having said that, somehow it still all works well enough.
It ends mostly dry, soft and oaky with decent length. If you enjoy this style of wine, this is a decent example that shows a bit more restraint at least in the sweetness than some others in this category.
