Splurging on a Napa Cab that hits all the right notes, the St Supery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc from both the Rutherford Estate Vineyard and the Dollarhide Estate Vineyard in Napa Valley, California. The wine was aged in 100% French oak (32% of which was new) for 19 months and has less than 2 g/L of residual sugar.
Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $42 (Saturday Splurge) and is available for as low as $30.
Harvested from our sustainably farmed Napa Valley estate vineyards, the fruit is sorted by cluster, then by berry to ensure only the finest fruit is chosen. An early spring kicked off the 2017 growing season and was followed by warm days and some late summer heat, resulting in wines of opulence and density. Aged for 19 months in French oak barrels, this is a well-balanced and structured wine with flavors of black plum, cassis and coffee bean.

The 2017 St Supery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a classic Napa Cab aroma. Dusty dark fruits, nice spice notes, cedar and vanilla all combine wonderfully in the bouquet.
Tasting the wine reveals lots of juicy, concentrated dark fruit in this medium-bodied but fully delicious wine. Featuring a smooth and lush mouthfeel and lots of varied well-integrated spice notes this is an excellent, easy to drink Cab that also offers a good level of complexity. It's still a bit young right now, but it gets better the longer it has air so I'm guessing this has some pretty good aging potential.
It ends with a very long, dry, persistent finish of juicy dark fruit and a bit of that famous Rutherford dust. Splurge-worthy!
