Stormchaser Wild Ride Red – A Smooth Filly

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: January 18, 2020

Despite the name this one is actually quite a smooth ride, the Stormchaser Wild Ride Red from Aldi.

Stormchaser Wild Ride Red – A Smooth Filly

A red blend of undisclosed varieties from Washington State.

The Stormchaser Wild Ride Red is available exclusively through Aldi and sells for just $6.99. According to the label it is cellared and bottled by Stormchaser Wines in Walla Walla, which appears to just be a private label set up for Aldi.

From the bottle:

Picked at the peak of ripeness, our grape clusters are sourced from some of the best sun-drenched vineyards in Washington State. Stormchaser Red Blend is crafted and aged for the ultimate drinking enjoyment. Our fruity Red Blend leads with aromas of cherries and ripe fruit followed by flavors of blackberry jam and subtle oak. Pair with pasta with tomato based sauce, red meat or pizza.

13.1% Alcohol

The 2017 Stormchaser Wild Ride Red begins with a pleasing aroma full of ripe berry fruit, spice, licorice and a little vanilla. The wine tastes very smooth with a soft mouthfeel. Slightly sweet with touches of spice and lots of berry fruit, this is a pretty nicely done sub-$10 red blend. It ends with long lasting sweet fruit notes. Not bad for just 7 bucks.
