Trader Joe's Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine Review

Sparkling Wine from France. In true Trader Joe’s style there is almost no other info available on the wine except that it is made from white grapes (Blanc de Blancs) so there’s probably at least some Chardonnay. Given the price it is likely made in the Charmat Method where the secondary fermentation that produces the bubbles happens in large tanks rather than in the bottle (the traditional method).

The Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine is available exclusively at Trader Joe’s sells for just $7.99. The wine has been around for years but tends to come and go in the store, and the price has slowly creeped up from $5.99 to $6.99 to now $7.99. It is imported by Latitude Wines.

Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine

Our Blanc de Blancs — literally, “white of whites” — is a dry, crisp, and citrusy sparkling white wine from France made from — you guessed it — white grapes. It’s a brut sparkler, with a yeasty, flowery aroma, delicate, fruity flavors, and just the right amount of fizz.

Vin mousseux-Brut
Produced and Bottled by Sorevi
11% Alcohol

As noted on the bottle the wine is made by Sorevi who seem to produce a range of wine, sparkling wines and brandy. Let’s check it out.

The Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine opens with a pleasing enough aroma featuring a little citrus, touches of flowers and a bit of melon.

Tasting reveals this to be a pretty basic sparkler, that is probably best for Mimosas or cocktails, in which it will do a fine job. It’s decent on its own too where it is crisp, not too sweet tasting, and easy to drink. It’s major fault is just that it’s a bit boring and I think you an find better options, even at this price point.

Based on the customer feedback we saw, it seems to be a bit polarizing although I think most of the complaints against are because it doesn’t taste very sweet (which didn’t bother us).

It ends dry and crisp with a bit of a chalky note. Good enough for the low price.
