Another nice, inexpensive Syrah find, we review the Trader Joe’s Reserve Eagle & Plow Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills Syrah Lot 269.
Syrah from the Eagle & Plow Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills of Washington State.
There’s very little information available on today’s wine from Trader Joe’s, which is they way things usually go with these private labels. We do know that it comes from DNA Vineyards, who produce a number of the Trader Joe’s wines including the excellent Trader Joe’s Reserve Walla Walla Syrah.
Sample submitted for review. The wine is available exclusively at Trader Joe’s for just $9.99.

The 2023 Trader Joe’s Reserve Eagle & Plow Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills Syrah opens with pleasing aromas of plum, dark fruit (blackberry), lots of meaty notes, black pepper, touches of floral notes, graphite, and more. It’s a nice, classic Syrah start.
Taking a sip reveals the wine to be similar to the nose, but also quite juicy in the mouth and really tasty! It’s not the most complex version of Syrah but just like the Walla Walla, it sure is enjoyable.
It ends dry, juicy and quite long and was just as good on day 2.
