The Beckett family is very well known in Paso Robles as various members are the founders and owners of Peachy Canyon, as well as Thibido Winery. They also started and then later sold Chronic Cellars. Those are all good signs.
Based on the produced and bottled by designation on the label of this wine, it doesn’t necessarily come from their own vineyards, but it was fermented and made by them. (You can read more about how we know that in our article How To Choose A Good Bottle Of Wine). Let’s check it out.
The 2023 Trader Joe’s Reserve Paso Robles Adelaida District Zinfandel Lot 265 opens with an attractive aroma of dark berry fruit, that is a bit brambly, plus spice and a little vanilla.
Taking a sip reveals a tasty little wine. It seems like there are perhaps some other varieties in there as it’s not overly Zin-like but it works. Smooth and balanced, the wine features some sweet tasting fruit and other touches similar to the nose. It’s a bit simple but it’s pleasing.
It ends dry, long and a bit grippy and was similar on day 2.
