39% off three bottles of exceptional and extremely age-worthy Cab from the guy who literally wrote the book on winemaking, the Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon. Only available for 1 day.

INSIDER DEAL! Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon - Exceptional!

Now this is what we're talking about, perfect 10 Cabernet!

We've really been delighted to be able to bring you some of our favorite wines through our Insider Deal program and today we've got an extra special one for you. This is a wine (this exact vintage in fact) that we've stored away as a birth year bottle for one of our kids, with the intention of having it last 20+ years.

It's not often you can purchase a wine under $20 that has this kind of longevity but this exceptional Cab is made by the famed Clark Smith, the guy who literally wrote the book on winemaking.

This is a small production beauty with less than two hundred cases made. Tasting the wine now at 8 years old shows it still be quite young in the bottle, but even at this young age we gave it a Taste rating of 10! Which means this one might even be going to 11...

Our best advice is to buy multiple packs and crack one open every few years for the next decade or two just to partake in the fascinating evolution to come.

Today's 1 Day Insider Deal gets you three bottles of this exceptional and extremely age worthy Cab for just $54.99 or $18.33 a bottle (a savings of almost 40%) plus only $5 shipping.

This 3-Pack deal ships to: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY. (These states are dependent on the individual licenses of the offering winery. Future deals may have more or less states available.)

This is a limited time, winery direct offer facilitated by our friends at Wine Country Connect. Sale ends Tuesday 11/17 at noon (PST) unless it sells out sooner. Shipping is a flat $5 per order no matter how many 3-packs you buy.

Clicking on the buy button above will take you to the site winedealmaker.com for checkout. If you don't see the embedded buy box click here to order. Once there you can also adjust the quantity of 3-packs in your order by using the "Click To Update Cart" link at the top of the screen.

The 2012 Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 15) from the famed Diamond Ridge Vineyard in Clear Lake, Lake County, California. The wine spends 14 months in neutral French oak. Only 199 cases were produced.

INSIDER DEAL! Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon - Exceptional!

    From the bottle:

Clone 15 - Of the dozen Cabernet Sauvignon clones planted at our ranch, Clone 15 is the most delicious and the most complete. Oozing with black cherry flavors, its dense, solid tannins make it a perfect accompaniment to veal parmesan, grilled tri-tip, or steak bearnaise.

Cooling breezes from the nearby lake preserve generous berry flavors, while our volcanic soils impart refreshing minerality. After farming together for more than fifty years, my father and I discovered this gem of a vineyard. - Jake Stephens

    13.9% Alcohol

The nose on the 2012 Two Jakes of Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit muted at first and needs a good bit of air to open up but such is often the case with wines like these that are built to age. The more time it has in the glass the more expressive it gets. After a few hours it is full of black cherry, touches of cedar, vanilla and chocolate. Further notes of licorice, caramel and more come out on day 2.

Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth with great depth of flavor and lots and lots of firm tannins. It's really a fascinating development of flavors as you drink this slowly over a number of hours which is why it will be so interesting to see what happens with it over the next decade or so. It starts rather tight but by day 2 it is full of rich and expressive fruit with lots of layers. It ends dry, grippy and very long.

As noted above, if you open this wine now it's best to give it a good amount of air (even a full day) to be at its best. It is also; however, an absolutely fascinating experience to pop it open now and taste. Then come back a few hours later and note the change. And then to cork the bottle and leave it on the counter until the next evening and taste again - the transformation is absolutely phenomenal and a window into its excellent ageability.
