Another fantastic Portuguese red blend via Costco, the Tyto Alba Vinhas Protegidas Tinto from Companhia das Lezirias.
50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca and 20% Alicante Bouschet from Tejo, Portugal. The wine is aged in clay amphora.
The Tyto Alba Vinhas Protegidas Tinto has an SRP of $23 but we found it at Costco for just $14.69, a great price considering it has an average price of $18 elsewhere. It is imported by Amphora Imports LLC.
Intriguing and mysterious the Barn Owl (Tyto alba), finds refuge in the habitats that the sustainable Agroforestry management policy of the Companhia das Lezirias has promoted. The Barn Owl is fundamental for the protection of the ecological balance of our vines, and its presence is a testament to our commitment to preserve local biodiversity.
We produced this aromatic and harmonious wine, with notes of cassis, plum, violet flowers and spices from the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Alicante Bouschet grapes.

The 2016 Tyto Alba Vinhas Protegidas Tinto from Companhia das Lezirias pours incredibly dark and inky in the glass. It opens with enticing aromas of dark berry fruit plus notes of spice, dried herbs, cola, licorice, vanilla and more.
The wine tastes silky smooth with deep, dark and delicious flavors similar to the nose. It is quite balanced and very enjoyable to drink.
It ends dry with lots of lasting, juicy dark berry fruit on the grippy, long finish. This is a fantastic blend, I love it.
