From the winery:

While the Cabernets of Red Hills may be considered by some to be a warm-up to California’s admired “heavyweight” regions, this Underscore is a force to be reckoned with. Classic cassis and blackberry collide with a steady frame of cigar box spices, graphite and herbs for a bold Cab that will keep you in the ring.

13.1% Alcohol

The 2012 Undercard Cabernet Sauvignon opens with very pleasant aromas of blackberry, plum, a little pepper, smoke and spice. More swirling in the glass also reveals notes of wintergreen and mint. Those smoky peppery notes definitely carry over when tasting this smooth wine which is full of tart, dark fruit. Some balsamic notes and hints of wintergreen, mint, vanilla and chocolate all lead into the dry, long, slightly grippy finish. This is quite a good Cabernet with a really nice mix of flavors after it has a chance to open up.
