In fact, the Walla Walla Valley AVA crosses into Oregon as well, with about 1/3 of the overall area in Oregon and 2/3 in Washington. Today’s wine uses fruit from vineyards in both states.
And if you’re not familiar with Walla Walla Cabernet you’re in for a treat, especially at our discounted price. Checking wine-searcher for the most popular wines in this region shows that most of them have an average retail price well over $100!

The cold start resulted in fewer growing days for the spring and early summer overall, but the extra rainfall and mountain snowpack prepared the area for multiple triple-digit days beginning in July.
The heat contributed to optimal fruit set and a slightly larger crop. With an idyllic September and October, the grapes were able to develop a perfect balance between flavor and sugar, acid and tannin, and overall great fruit expression.

And now on to our review:
The 2022 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a very pleasing aroma of black cherry, plum and other dark berry fruit plus baking spice, cedar, coffee and touches of vanilla, chocolate and dried herbs. It’s a great start!
The full-bodied wine tastes dense, tannic and delicious yet still fresh, smooth, round and lush. All those flavors from the nose combine seamlessly in the mouth with great structure and acidity. And as good as it is right now, you can tell right away this one has great aging potential too.
It ends dry, smooth, juicy, a bit chewy and quite long and lingering on the grippy, spicy and savory finish. It was similar on day 2. We put it at the very top of our 9 Taste Rating at 93 points. This is excellent!
Cheers,
Jon

Cabernets are one my favorite grapes. Was not aware of the quality of Washington state cabs. This wine started a bit grassy, but we drank it slowly. The taste changed with time and the grassiness dissipated. It flavors just got better with each sip. What a treat! I won’t make the mistake of writing off Walla Walla cabs again.
We love Walla Walla cabs and this one didn't disappoint. Deep rich color in the glass with aromas of black currant and other dark berries. The black fruit comes through on the pallet with enough tannins to give it great structure from start to smooth lingering finish. We will spread our remaining 5 bottles out over the next year IF we can. Wonderful cab.
