Barton & Guestier Vouvray – Simply Delicious

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: October 10, 2019

Perfectly sweet Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley in France, the Barton & Guestier Vouvray.

Barton & Guestier Vouvray - Simply Delicious

100% Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Touraine, Loire, France. The wine is vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The Barton & Guestier Vouvray has an SRP of $12 and is available for as low as $8. Imported by Barton & Guestier USA.

From the bottle:

The first barrels of wine marked with Thomas Barton’s own seal left from the port of Bordeaux in 1725. Almost 300 years later, Thomas’s pioneering spirit is still inspiring us. Our taste for innovation and our pursuit of quality have remain unchanged. We are proud to offer you this collection of fine French Appellation wines that we have carefully vinified in order to reflect the very best of their terroir. Our Vouvray comes from small plots located on the hillsides and plateaux overlooking the Loire, also called “the royal river”.

Expressive nose mixing intense aromas of flowers (acacia), white berries and exotic fruits (pineapple) with a touch of citrus (grapefruit). Fresh and lively attack evolving on a long mineral finish. Serve with grilled fish, seafood, goat cheese. Best served between 50 and 54F.

11.5% Alcohol

The aromas on the 2017 Barton & Guestier Vouvray Les Petites Parcelles are a bit muted at first, but sufficient swirling brings out some nice notes of apple, orange blossom, honeysuckle and lime. Smooth and quite delicious in the mouth with flavors of melon, peach, pineapple and honey, it has just about the perfect level of sweetness to match it’s nice bright acidity. I love the lower alcohol level at just 11.5% too. It ends with a lip smacking finish of sweet, lingering fruit. Simply delicious!
