Last Updated on August 2, 2025

A very delicious and savory wine, the Bela Ribera del Duero from CVNE.

Bela Ribera del Duero – Muy Bela

100% Tempranillo from estate vineyards in Ribera del Duero, Spain. It is aged for six months in a combination of new and one-year-old American and French oak barrels and is vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The Bela Ribera del Duero has an SRP of $18 and is available for as low as $14. It is imported by Arano LLC.

From the winery:

Bela’s label is a facsimile of one of CVNE’s labels from 1910. The stars represent the children of CVNE’s founder, Eusebio Real de Asua. His brother Raimundo, the other founder, had no descendants. Each star represents one of the children: Sofia, Aurea, and Ramon. Sofia was known as Bela.

Bela is produced from hand harvested, carefully selected grapes from our own vineyards situated at than 800m altitude in the village of Villalba de Duero. The soils are calcareous clay and sandy loam and the climate here is continental.

The 2017 Bela Ribera del Duero begins with a very pleasing aroma of blackberry, black raspberry, black cherry, plum, cola, leather, licorice, spice and more. Taking a sip reveals lovely dark fruit with beautifully integrated spice. This is a really delicious, savory, medium-bodied wine that is great for drinking right now, especially once it has a little time to breathe. It ends with a wonderful, long, spicy finish of dark fruit.
