Hauntingly good and easy to find at Costco, the Bogle Phantom Red Blend is no illusion!
The Bogle Phantom is a blend of 43% Petite Sirah, 44% Zinfandel, 10% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon from California. The wine spends 24 months in 1 and 2 year old American oak.
Sample submitted for review. The Bogle Phantom Red Blend has an SRP of $20 but our local Costco is currently selling it for just $13.99. This is not a Costco exclusive but you will generally pay $2-$3 more at other retailers; for example, my local Trader Joe's is selling it for $15.99. You can check your local retailer pricing here.
In the dark recesses of the cellar you sense a presence, hear footsteps. Why is it these things only happen when you are alone? In the shadows, a glimpse of muddy boots and old blue jeans...the lurking legacies of hard work and determination left by those who have come before you.
We are proud to carry on the traditions of our founders with this unique red wine: a deep ruby apparition that personifies the true spirit of Bogle.

There's nothing mysterious about the big, enticing aroma of the 2015 Bogle Phantom Red Blend! This is a blackberry and spice bomb that also features cola, cedar and more. Tasting the wine reveals lots of jammy dark fruit brimming with spice and vanilla plus secondary notes of licorice, chocolate and black pepper. This is a smooth, full-bodied, tannic beauty. Petite Sirah has long been a favorite underdog variety and this blend puts it to very good use. It ends with a spicy, very long-lasting and extremely satisfying finish. I love this blend!
While the blend was tweaked slightly from the 2014 vintage (which was 14% Cab), the wine tastes pretty similar. And thanks to the new lower price at Costco (last year it was around $15), this now qualifies as a Bulk Buy! Also, I couldn't find info on the residual sugar for the 2015 vintage, but I'm guessing it is similar to the 2014 which was just 2.8 g/L.
