A solid buy at the very reasonable Trader Joe's price, the Vignobles & Compagnie Bois de Menge Gigondas.
70% Grenache and 30% Syrah from Gigondas, Southern Rhone, France. The wine has 4 g/L of residual sugar.
The Bois de Menge Gigondas is available exclusively at Trader Joe's in the US and sells for $13.99. It is imported by Plume Ridge.
This wine received the very best attention from our winemakers during the vinification and maturing process. Bois de Menge has soft, smooth and velvety tannins. Fresh in mouth, a spicy and harmonious length.

Here's an interesting find at Trader Joe's, a reasonably priced Gigondas with a giant score -- 96 points at the at the Decanter World Wine Awards. And while we do like the wine, you can file this one under why we don't put much stock in big scores. Read on for more…
The 2017 Bois de Menge Gigondas from Vignobles & Compagnie opens with aromas of black cherry and plum plus some pleasing floral and herbal notes and a little leather. Tasting reveals lots of juicy fruit with plenty of black pepper notes in this smooth, balanced and easy to drink wine. It's not terribly complex but is really a pretty nice Rhone blend overall. The finish is quite nice and quite long with lingering lightly spicy fruit plus a good earthy undertone. It works for me at this price but it's nowhere near 96 points.
