A few weeks ago we introduced to you what might be one of the best values in wine, Cameron Hughes and the fact that their wines are now only available online. Today we continue with one of our favorite picks after recently sampling a number of the wines. And it's a timely one too with Thanksgiving quickly approaching!
Everyone knows Oregon is the place to go for Pinot Noir, right? But what you may not know is that there's lot more to Oregon Pinot Noir than Willamette Valley. Rogue Valley, which sits right on the border of California and Oregon, is an up and coming spot and we're delighted Cameron Hughes was able to get his hands on this wine at this extraordinarily low price.
The 2015 Cameron Hughes Rogue Valley Pinot Noir Lot 565 opens up quite nicely after an hour or so in the glass and features red cherry, black cherry, strawberry and plum aromas beautifully integrated with minty spice. The wine tastes of cola, spice and everything nice and has a smooth, supple texture. The wonderful sweet fruit turns a bit tart on the mid-palate where a bit of an earthy, oaky note rises to the forefront. It ends dry with good length and lots of lingering cola and plum notes. Excellent stuff and at this price, a Bulk Buy!
This wine is also a slam dunk for our list the best Pinot Noir under $20.
