From the winery:
Voluptuous aromas of rich black currant and raspberries on the nose lead to full-bodied flavors of dark berries, anise and cedar. The tannins are well balanced, and the wine finishes with ripe berry fruit on the palate.
After warmer and larger than average harvests from 2012-2016, this year's growing season and harvest were far more normal. A wet spring led to a dry, warm summer, allowing for excellent fruit development. By harvest, our fruit showed phenolic ripeness with an ideal balance between sugar, acids, and tannin in the fruit skins.

The 2017 Canoe Ridge Vineyard The Explorer Cabernet Sauvignon opens with very pleasing aromas of black cherry, blackberry and anise plus cedar, leather, spice, mint and more.
Taking a sip reveals that this is pretty darn tasty! With a smooth mouthfeel, tons of flavor, well integrated spice and a little lingering vanilla, this is a very nicely put together Washington Cab that goes down easy.
It ends dry, long, slightly grippy and very satisfying and was just as good day 2. Easy drinking but also with plenty of complexity, this is a really great value Cab. I love it, especially at this low price.
It is drinking beautifully now and should have several years of peak enjoyment left as well.
