Domaine Bousquet Malbec - Just Plain Good

By: Jon Thorsen Published: September 1, 2018 Last Updated: May 30, 2021

A solid, tasty Malbec made from organically grown grapes and available at a great price, the Domaine Bousquet Malbec.

Domaine Bousquet Malbec - Just Plain Good

100% Malbec made from organically grown grapes in Tupungato, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine has residual sugar of 3.8 g/L.

Sample submitted for review. The Domaine Bousquet Malbec has an SRP of $13 and is available for as low as $9. Imported by WISD, LLC.

    From the bottle:

Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina's exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1200 m.a.s.l. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic.

The wine has rich intense blackberry aromas with spicy black pepper notes, blackcurrant, and cassis. The palate reveals an elegant personality with layers of red and black fruits and silky tannins. The wine pairs well with red meat, sauces, cheese and pasta.

    13.5% Alcohol

The 2017 Domaine Bousquet Malbec begins with a pleasing aroma of blackberry, black cherry and a little bit of earthiness. Taking a sip reveals a tasty, medium-bodied wine that is smooth and round in the mouth with more great fruit laced with touches of spice and black pepper. It ends dry and long with lingering notes of earthiness along with a hint of coffee under the fruit.

The bottom line is that this is simply a tasty, basic Malbec (which is a very good thing in and of itself) at a great price and made with organic grapes to boot. In other words, it's just plain good!
