Locations WA Washington Red Wine - A-OK!

By: Jon Thorsen Published: August 31, 2018 Last Updated: June 1, 2021

Another unusual and extremely tasty blend from Dave Phinney, the Locations WA.

Locations WA Washington Red - A-OK!

A blend of Syrah, Merlot and Petite Sirah from vineyards throughout Washington. The wine spends 10 months in French and American oak barrels.

The Locations WA Washington Red has an SRP of $25 and is available for as low as $16. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Sample submitted for review.

    From Locations Wine:

A sixth generation vintner and friend of Locations winemaker Dave Phinney once said, "if I was twenty-one, single, and could make wine anywhere in the world, it would be Washington." With that endorsement and incentive, we proudly offer our first wine from the Northwest. Sourced from diverse vineyard blocks within the state's best growing regions, we now know what he was talking about.

    15% Alcohol

Another Dave Phinney Locations Wine and another intriguing and unusual blend. Syrah and Merlot are pretty typical but it's the addition of one of our favorite varieties, Petite Sirah, that really peaked our interest here. Let's see how it tastes.

The Locations WA Washington Red Wine, this being the WA-5 designation, begins with a very inviting and much like the blend itself, intriguing, aroma full of ripe black cherry, spice, earth, balsamic and anise. Tasting the smooth, medium to full-bodied wine reveals plum, black cherry, chocolate, oak, anise and more. There are lots of different flavors in this one and I love how these varietals complement each other. It ends dry, spicy and very long with lingering black tea and chocolate notes. An excellent and tasty blend but one word of warning when tasting - it definitely needs a good bit of time once opened to come together so plan ahead and give it a couple hours to breathe before drinking.
