Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – A Dandy of a Deal

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: March 7, 2020

Tasty Cab from Argentina, the Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon - A Dandy of a Deal

85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec from estate vineyards in Tupungato, Alto Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina. It is made from organically grown grapes and is also vegan friendly. The wine spends 10 months French oak and has 3 g/L of residual sugar.

Sample submitted for review. The Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has an SRP of $18 and is available for as low as $14. Imported by WISD LLC.

From the bottle:

Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina’s exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1200 m.a.s.l. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic.

Aged 10 months in French oak.

This wine is elegant and modern in style with lots of mineral, lovely red currant, blackberry, plum and cassis flavors. With silky tannins and bright acidity this wine is refreshing through a long and pleasant finish. Ideal with pasta dishes, red meats, and meat sauces.

15% Alcohol

The 2018 Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a very pleasant aroma of black cherry, plum, cola plus a little vanilla and mint. We last reviewed (and recommended) the 2012 vintage of this wine, and we like the current edition even better as there are no green herbal notes this time around. There is; however, lots of savory, ripe, dark fruit like blackberry and black cherry plus a little spice, touches of vanilla and other notes from the plentiful oak. Nice mineral notes lead into the dry, very long finish which also features a bit of tobacco and chocolate. If you’re drinking it right away I’d give it some time to breathe but it’s really lovely once it opens up.
