A ripe and jammy red blend from Carinena, Spain at a great Costco price. We review the Esteban Martin Garnacha Syrah.
A blend of 60% Garnacha and 40% Syrah from vines aged 20-65 years old in the gravelly soils of Carinena, Spain. The wine is vegan friendly.
We found this one for just $4.99 at Costco, but it is also available elsewhere for around $10. It is imported by Tri-Vin Imports.
From the bottle:
This wine is an expression of great vineyards and represents the passion and hard work of the family and a profound respect for nature.
Produced and Bottled by Bodegas Esteban Martin
13.5% Alcohol
The 2021 Esteban Martin Garnacha Syrah opens with very ripe, sweet and jammy aromas of fleshy red and black fruit with a touch of spice.
The wine tastes smooth and not as sweet as I was expecting from the nose, but it's definitely not totally dry. It has a bit more structure than I was expecting too, especially at just $4.99.
Juicy fruit and a little bit of spiciness lead into the dry, grippy finish.
This is a nice little wine for just 5 bucks! It might make a nice pairing with a cheeseburger and it was even a bit better on day 2.
