“For there is no folly of the beast of the earth which is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men.”
– Herman Melville, Moby Dick

As we mentioned above, Winc enlisted Ryan Zotovich to make this wine for them. While you may not recognize his name, you might have heard of the highly regarded Pinot Noir he made at Sea Smoke Vineyards whose wines generally retail for $60 and up.

The 2017 Folly of the Beast Pinot Noir begins with a pleasing, classic Pinot aroma of cranberry, black cherry, spice and a little wet earth. Tasting the wine reveals it be smooth, medium-bodied and full of cola, black cherry, strawberry and mint flavors. There’s quite a bit of oak influence in this one and it works very well. Sweet spice notes lead into the very long, dry finish.
