A white blend of 34% Chardonnay, 33% Catarratto and 33% Inzolia from Sicily, Italy. The wine has 12.2 g/L of residual sugar.
The Grande Alberone Bianco is available exclusively through Aldi and sells for $7.99. It is imported by Prestige Beverage Group.
This is another wine made for Aldi by Provinco Italia, the same producer as the Grande Alberone Rosso and the Ronco di Sasso Vino Rosso. Also like those wines, this one advertises a big, inflated score (94 points) from the Italian critic Luca Maroni.
The grapes for this award winning wine are grown in the southernmost region of Italy, the island of Sicily. This area is renowned for its food and wine culture. This fresh white wine has rich floral notes and offers citrus and tropical fruit on the palate with a well-balanced finish. Enjoy with fish, chicken, poultry, light salads, vegetables or on its own. Best when served lightly chilled.

The 2018 Grande Alberone Bianco begins with a basic but nice aroma of creamy lemon along with melon and peach. The wine tastes smooth and sweet and is loaded with lemon. With a nice slightly creamy mouthfeel and good acidity, this is a crowd pleasing wine for sure. And while there isn’t anything about it that approaches 94 points, it’s just fine for $7.99.
It ends with more long lasting sweet fruit that lingers in your mouth and on your lips. Pair this one with some almond cookies for a sweet treat!
