Welcome to version 2 of our extremely popular Insider Deal All-Stars Red Wine Intro Pack! Get four bottles of our highest rated, best-selling, most requested wines from our most popular wineries for just $64.99 while you can!
We're delighted to be back with another Insider Deal All-Star Intro Pack. Our original red wine Intro Pack and "Perfect 10" Packs were very popular but are now sold out. And while our White and Rosé Intro Pack is still going strong, it's time to launch version 2 of a red wine pack, and it's better than ever!
As a refresher, these collections are designed to introduce you to some of our best-selling wineries, allowing you to try some of the very best wines we've offered.
Here's what the All-Star Red 2.0 line-up includes:
- 93-Point Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir for less than half price!
- The original Auto-Buy from Pedroncelli winery - the Mother Clone Zinfandel, a wine with a long, long history of double gold medals and 90+ scores including 93-points on the vintage we are offering.
- A big, chewy and delicious Lake County Petite Sirah with a Perfect 10 (94+ Point) Taste Rating - and it's over 60% off!
- A 92-Point estate Cab from the Royal Slope AVA in Washington State, aged 30 months in French and American oak.
All told these four wines have a combined SRP of $132, which means you're saving over 50% through our Intro Pack! Not to mention the additional savings on our very reasonable $6.99 shipping.
Besides the fact that we've got 4 different wines from 4 different wineries in today's deal, one of the other big differences versus our normal deals is that this is not a flash sale format. This means this offer does not expire and can be purchased as long as inventory is available.
In order for as many people as possible to take part, we've also expanded the ship states for this offer to just about every state we can possibly ship to - which means some of you will be able to try the wines from these wineries for the very first time.
Buy multiples and you save even more since you'll never pay more than $6.99 shipping, no matter how many 4-packs you buy (limit of 6). Read on for our full reviews of each wine.
This 4-pack deal is available to ship to the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY. (These states are dependent on the individual licenses of the offering winery and are not representative of all our deals. Every deal can have different, sometimes more, sometimes less, states available.)
While we have quite a bit of inventory of these 4 wines, due to the small production of most of the wineries we work with, individual wines are subject to change and may be updated as necessary with other best-sellers. In the event a wine does need to be swapped out, this post will be updated with that info.

Up first, let's take a look at this perfectly pleasing Pinot with a wonderful earthy streak, the J Wilkes Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir.
Santa Maria Valley in Santa Barbara County, with one of the longest growing seasons in California, is a fantastic spot for Pinot Noir. And the producers of today's wine (Miller Family Wines), who are also the founders and owners of the renowned Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills vineyards in Santa Maria Valley, definitely know all about good Pinot from this area.
And good Pinot this is indeed, with a 93-point score from Tasting Panel and 91-93 points from us. Aged 10.5 months in 25% new French oak, this is real deal Santa Maria Valley Pinot at an incredible price.
From the winery:
AROMATICS: Classic Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir aromas of ripe cherries, bright raspberry, a hint of pepper, and bramble. Underlying subtle fragrance layers of orange peel, pomegranate, and vanilla.
PALATE: A rare combination of flavors and textures: juicy red cherry, raspberry and strawberry, spice, fine-textured tannins, and an exquisite mid-palate.
FOOD PAIRING: Roasted Chicken, Halibut with Butter / Cream sauce, Charcuterie, or Oysters with a Morel Mushroom Mignonette.

The 2019 J Wilkes Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir opens with a very pleasing aroma of plum, cranberry and some nice earthy and mineral notes. You can tell right away this is definitely not a simple, one-dimensional example of Pinot Noir.
Taking a sip reveals that the earthiness from the nose continues when tasting this delicious wine. The fruit is there as well, especially as it has some time to breathe and things balance out. Add in nice touches of baking spice, cola and a little smoke and this is quite harmonious!
Fine tannins lead into the dry, long finish of lingering licorice, cola and lasting fruit. The whole thing gets even better the more air it has and might have even been its best on day two.

Up next, we've got one of our most popular, most requested "repeat" deal from previous buyers. From one of the original Dry Creek Valley wineries, it's the fabulous Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel.
We had a chance to visit the winery a few years ago and spend some time with Jim Pedroncelli, who along with his brother John, bought the winery from their father in 1963.
John Sr started the winery in 1927 (during Prohibition!) and managed to stay in business by selling grapes to home winemakers. By the time the 21st amendment was passed (repealing Prohibition) the winery was one of just four remaining in Dry Creek Valley. Now 95 years later they are on to the fourth generation!
Over the years we've had a chance to taste many wines from Pedroncelli and have always been impressed, but one of our very favorites is the Mother Clone Zinfandel. We even snapped this picture of a previous vintage in barrel when we visited.
The 2020 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel is 91% Zinfandel and 9% Petite Sirah. The grapes come from a ranch planted to Zinfandel since 1904. Most of the vineyard was re-planted in the 80s using vines cloned from the originals (hence the name) but the wine also includes fruit from the remaining 110+ year-old "Mother" vines. It spends 12 months in American oak, 30% new and was given 93-points from Tasting Panel.
From the winery:
The Pedroncelli house is founded on Zinfandel. It was the first grape planted in the early 1900s, it was the first wine Giovanni made after Prohibition ended and it was also the first varietal we labeled under our name in 1947. Using the budwood from the mother vineyard to clone a second generation carries our vineyard story forward, echoing the generations of our family. The fruit from three generations of these “mother” vines are part of the blend as well as fruit from the Bushnell and Giovannoni vineyards.
Our Mother Clone is a classic ‘Dry Creek’ Zinfandel with aromas of ripe red berries with a touches of cinnamon, vanilla and white pepper spice. Red cherry flavors combine with vanilla, licorice and warm baking spices. The berry-spice combination, so typical of Dry Creek Zin, includes a touch of pepper with the rounded finish which are a hallmark of our style.

The 2020 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel opens with a wonderful aroma of blackberry, plum, baking spice, licorice and touches of vanilla that all combine seamlessly.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, lovely, medium to full-bodied wine filled with juicy dark berry fruit, more wonderfully integrated spice, vanilla and a little cola. It's flavorful but not over the top and quite well-balanced. It tastes similar to the 2019 vintage we previously offered although it has a bit more oak influence at this point, which is likely just because it is younger.
Black pepper and a touch of smoke lead into the dry, very long finish of this fantastic wine.
And while it's drinking amazingly well now (and maybe even slightly better on day 2), we know from experience that the wines from Pedroncelli get even better with age so don't be afraid to let it age.

The third wine in today's 4-pack is the big, chewy and delicious Bulk Buy rated Clay Shannon Petite Sirah.
All Lake County fruit, which by the way is one of our favorite spots for this variety, this wine comes mostly from the smaller High Valley (57%) and Red Hills (33%) appellations within Lake County and was produced by Shannon Family of Wines.
The 2019 Clay Shannon Petite Sirah was aged for 12 months in oak, 30% of which was French. 1,139 cases were produced, and the wine has an SRP of $45. We loved it so much we gave it a Perfect 10 (94+ Point) Taste Rating!
From the winery:
This Petite Sirah has intense color, with aromas of blackberries and blueberries, vanilla, and roasted coffee. On the palate you find a full-body wine, blueberry, black tea, dark chocolate, sweet baking spices, and cream with a firm, complex and round tannin finish.
Bright fruit, spice, texture, and all of the tannin is a hallmark of the high-elevation vineyards of Lake County. The dark fruits, old-world characters, and dried herbs come from the lower elevations of North Napa County. Aged 12 months in oak (30% French).
Clay Shannon began his career as a vineyard manager, farming wine regions of California. Now owner and visionary leader of Shannon Ridge Family of Wines, his passion is simple…. Grow the best fruit possible, while preserving the land for future generations. For Clay, sustainability is not just a philosophy, it’s a way of life.
At Shannon Ridge, we live in harmony with Mother Nature. The vineyards feed the sheep, the sheep feed the vines; the lamb feeds the people, and people drink the wine and wear wool.
In 1995, Clay discovered a magnificent piece of property in the hills overlooking Clear Lake in Lake County, thirty-five miles north of Napa’s famed vineyards. He quickly set out to develop vineyards, Clay’s vision was simple: “We wanted to grow the best fruit in the world,” says Clay, “but we wanted to do it in a way that made us happy living there.”
We are dedicated to creating a family of wines that consumers love at top-quality and affordable prices. We are passionate about preserving our land, not only for great vineyard sites but for the wild creatures which share our property. Our sustainability practices integrate a flock of sheep that clean the vineyards, remove the excess canopy, and reduce the need for chemicals while providing natural fertilizer.
“Sustainability wasn’t some philosophical concept; it is the way we live our lives.”

The 2019 Clay Shannon Petite Sirah opens with a wonderful aroma of dark fruit, spice, some herbal notes, black tea, vanilla, touches of chocolate and lots more. There's plenty to sniff here as you swirl.
It only takes one sip to know this is a delicious, balanced Petite Sirah. It's big and chewy but not over the top. Full of juicy dark fruit, spice, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and much more, this is a pleasure to drink.
It ends dry, chewy, grippy and quite long with lots of lasting juicy fruit. It was just as good on day 2. Stock up on this one while you can!

And last, but certainly not least, we've got the Gard Vintners "The Don" Cabernet Sauvignon from the Lawrence Estate in the Royal Slope AVA of Washington State.
Don Isidro, pronouced ee-SEE-droh, is named for Gard's vineyard manager, Isidro Mondragon and first debuted in 2007. We've enjoyed many a vintage of this wine since then and we have to say the 2019 we are offering today might be best yet. (Vinous agrees giving it 92 points, we score it similarly at 91-93.)
Of course, not only is this all estate fruit, coming from the collection of Lawrence Estate Vineyards, but it is also aged 30 months in French and American oak. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (91%), the wine also includes 8% of that remarkable Washington Syrah and 1% Cabernet Franc. It's a fantastic combination.
From the winery:
Gård, meaning “farm” in many of the Scandinavian languages, is a tribute to our family’s Scandinavian heritage and farming tradition.
Gard Vintners is 100% estate grown sustainably at Lawrence Vineyards in the Royal Slope AVA. Lawrence Vineyards features eight distinct vineyard sites with elevations ranging 930 feet to 1,675 feet. The combination of elevation and south-facing slope provides a great framework for grape production, while the diversity of each of the locations delivers a high level of complexity to Gård wines. Lawrence Vineyards is certified sustainable by Vinewise.org.
The winery was founded by Josh and Lisa Lawrence, along with Josh's dad John Lawrence and uncle Sandy Lawrence, whose family has farmed the Royal Slope for more than 55 years.
The 2019 Don introduces itself with a robust and ripe bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, fig, anise, eucalyptus, violets and black currants. Swirling brings forth complex aromas of plum, sandalwood, baking spices, orange marmalade with slight, savory notes of sage and thyme. The palate expresses red and black fruits and underlying flavors of baker’s chocolate and earth. Firm, but smooth tannins add tension and density mid-palate, with abundant acidity and a long finish to create a balanced, lively wine that you can enjoy now through 2031.

The 2019 Gard The Don Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a very attractive aroma full of ripe dark fruit. With time in the glass spice, licorice, vanilla, mint and even a bit of a smoky note evolve. It's a wonderful start.
Taking a sip reveals a silky smooth, soft and very tasty wine with all those luscious notes from the nose combining harmoniously in the mouth. We love the addition of the Syrah here which adds a bit of a peppery, smoky, meaty note. And the whole thing gets even better as it has more air.
It ends dry, a bit grippy, chewy and quite long with some lingering mineral notes. The wine might have been even slightly better on day 2. Still a bit on the young side, this wine will drink wonderfully for several years so there's no fear in stocking up, which we heartily recommend you do.

"This insider deal is a great wine!!! So glad I got it!!"
"I love the wines that you offer. I have sent your information to many people. I also split orders with friends. There are so many sites that inflate the retail so it looks like the deal is better than it is. I find that annoying and I distrust those sites.
