Acclaimed wine writer Dave McIntyre of the Washington Post once said that a previous vintage (2021) of Cordant’s Resolution white Rhone blend was “one of the best Rhone-style white wines from the United States that I have tasted”.
That’s quite a statement, but we have to agree. Aged 17 months in 228L French Barrique and 500L French Puncheon, the 2023 we have on offer today is a blend of 56% Grenache Blanc, 29% Viognier, 8% Roussanne and 7% Picpoul Blanc from Paso Robles. It reminds us of the Gard Freyja White – high praise indeed! – with a bit of added lip-smacking-ness from the Picpoul.
Only 200 cases were produced of this extremely satisfying and refreshing wine. We seriously loved this one. In fact, I had originally planned to open a number of different wines to taste the night we tried it but I liked it so much I never even opened anything else!
With an SRP of $48, it’s not cheap but today we have it for much less…

RELEASE DATE: October 2025WINEMAKER NOTES: All grapes were picked for acidity and direct pressed when the fruit arrived at the winery. Juice settled overnight was then barreled down to a mixture of 228L barrique and 500L puncheons. The viognier was fermented in 50% new oak. Fermentation proceeded by naturally occurring yeast and bacteria. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. The wines were aged for 15 months on the lees. The wines were bottled unfined and unfiltered in the spring of 2025.

And now on to our review:
The 2023 Cordant Resolution White opens with a very harmonious and layered aroma of lemon and other citrus plus some floral notes, a little almond and touches of spice. It’s a great start!
Right from the first sip this is just delicious! It’s smooth yet vibrant, round, layered, deep, juicy and balanced. Featuring similar flavors to the nose with a bit of tartness in the mouth, this is super easy to drink but also has plenty of complexity. It’s extremely refreshing.
It ends crisp and dry on the very long, lip-smacking finish. This is just excellent and extremely satisfying. I had originally planned to open a number of different wines to taste the night I tried this one but I liked it so much I never got to anything else!
Today’s wine reminds me of our best-selling Gard Freyja white wine (high praise) although the Picpoul here adds a bit more of the lip-smacking element to the wine. We put this at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating at 92-93 points. Fantastic!
