INSIDER DEAL! 59% OFF Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir

Perfect 10, 94-Point Napa Valley Estate Pinot from Elkhorn Peak Cellars.

Complex, silky smooth and just lovely, don’t miss this beauty from a true, independent, family-run farm in Napa Valley.

INSIDER DEAL! 59% OFF Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir

As is often the case, a challenging vintage (2020) produced a beautiful wine. Thanks to the extreme heat, the winery finished picking all their fruit just days before the smoke and ash descended upon Napa Valley from the 2020 fires, which meant all the fruit for this wine was completely unaffected.

And what amazing fruit it is, a combination of 5 clones – Pommard, Dijon 114 & 115, Swan and “R” (Kent Rasmussen) clone, all estate grown. The wine then spends 12 months in neutral French oak barrels. Just 14 of those barrels were produced.

As such, it’s no surprise the normal price for this wine is $54 a bottle! We’ve got it for much less today…

For the next day you can get 3 bottles of the 2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir for just $66.95 ($22.32/bottle). That’s a discount of 59% saving you over $31 a bottle!

Summer 2026 Shipping Info

Shipping is a flat $9.99 per order, no matter how many packs you buy. This applies to both Summer Shipments AND Summer Holds. Summer Shipments also have an additional charge built into the product price for the heat protection package. Here’s how it works:

Summer Ship (+$8 for the Heat Protection Package) – Packages ship in styrofoam and use refrigerated shipping. This includes refrigerated trucks to local hubs for the South, Midwest and East Coast and internal refrigeration (ice packs) in boxes for the West Coast (AZ, CA, ID, NV, OR, WA). Final delivery will be on regular UPS trucks without refrigeration (just like last year), thus the reason for the styrofoam.

Note that unlike last year, packages will not go 2-day air as the refrigerated trucks are a better option, however this will add additional transit time. Trucks will only pick up from our shipper once per week so with our normal order processing time of up to 10 days before orders are sent out, packages will likely take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to arrive in-home.

These orders have an additional cost of $8 built into the product price for this Heat Protection Package. It is NOT possible (nor would it be advisable!) to purchase a deal with summer shipping without also including the Heat Protection Package.

Summer Hold – Buy your wine now and have your shipment held in a temperature controlled warehouse for delivery in October! While we take every precaution we can with our Summer Shipping protocol, we also know that many of you travel or live in very hot areas where you don’t want to risk it (or you simply detest styrofoam).

Please note this is not a “ship-at-will” program, all your summer hold orders will ship (in cardboard/no styrofoam) at a date of our choosing in mid-October once temperatures have cooled down. Please read this post for important info to determine if the Summer Hold program is right for you.

If this is your first time ordering please check out the shipping section of our FAQ for more information.

For your convenience you also have the option to select a UPS Store/Access Point to ship to at checkout (with no additional pickup fee) so you don’t have to be home to sign! For Summer Hold orders whatever shipping location option you choose at checkout (ship to home or ship to UPS Store/Access Point) will apply in October.

As promised, here’s a bit more about the winery:

At Elkhorn Peak Cellars, everything begins at home. Our vineyard sits at the heart of a 28-acre organic farm in south Napa Valley, part of a working homestead our family has been building with love since 1983. We farm the old-fashioned way: by hand, with heart, and always with the future in mind. Our commitment to organic practices and biodiversity helps keep our soil, vines, and surrounding ecosystem healthy.

We’re a small, family-run operation—grown slowly and sustainably, without corporate influence. We built this business from the ground up, reinvesting season after season, guided by a deep respect for the land and a dedication to our craft. Every decision—from pruning to bottling—is made with care, intention, and pride in doing things the right way. Ken Nerlove, Founder/Grower, works alongside his daughter, Elise Nerlove, and a tight-knit crew of family and friends to run Elkhorn Peak Cellars.

We produce fewer than 1,000 cases a year and sell exclusively through our website and Wine Club—to people who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and connection.

At Elkhorn Peak, we’re not just growing grapes—we’re growing a way of life that honors the land, feeds the community, and stands proudly apart from the corporate wine machine. We’re proud to stand with a small but mighty community of independent farmers who believe wine should be personal, not corporate.

Since 2017, we have dedicated ourselves to serving on the Executive Committee of the non-profit Save the Family Farms. Our mission is to protect the livelihoods of small, independent farms, ensuring they remain viable for future generations despite the increasing wave of corporate takeovers. In 2022, we achieved a significant milestone by successfully passing the Micro-Winery Ordinance in Napa County, a testament to our unwavering determination to save the family farms.

And now on to the wine!

2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir

From the winery:

2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir

WINEMAKER NOTES: The 2020 Pinot Noir is a wine of elegance and depth, marked by vibrant red fruit, silky texture, and a core of savory complexity. Aromas of wild strawberry, Bing cherry, and rose petal lead into a palate layered with pomegranate, black tea, and subtle forest floor. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, giving the wine a graceful structure that will reward both immediate enjoyment and careful cellaring.

COMPOSITION: 100% Estate grown Pinot Noir; 5 clones (Pommard, Dijon 114 & 115, swan and “R” clone). R clone is a unique, proprietary Pinot Noir vine selection brought to the vineyard by and nicknamed after longtime consulting winemaker and friend Kent Rasmussen – the “R” stands for Rasmussen.
TA: 5.77 g/L
pH: 3.64
ALCOHOL: 14.2%
AGING: 12 months neutral French oak barrels
PRODUCTION: 14 barrels; 331 cases

VINTAGE NOTES: A dry winter gave way to a status quo spring. Budbreak occurred on March 15th, right on time. We had a week of unexpected spring showers in mid-May, which caused a bit of shatter in the vineyard, but it was nothing too alarming. Summer arrived with sunny, even temperatures that hovered around the low 80s for most of June and July. Like clockwork, the grapes began to go through version at the end of July 2020. While COVID moved through the planet, and Napa Valley tourism evaporated overnight, it was hard to know which way was up, but we took tremendous comfort in a very average grapegrowing season and were hopeful for a quiet and uneventful harvest. But that definitely was not the case…

Harvest 2020 kicked off on August 14th, during Napa’s first summer heatwave. It was 100 degrees and we picked one ton of Pinot Noir that would become the 2020 Pinot Noir Pet Nat.

The triple-digit heat continued for a few days, and a week later on August 23rd, the heat subsided for a few days so we picked another one ton of Pinot.

The extreme heat returned the first couple of days in September, reaching 102 at our south Napa ranch, and as high as 110 in north Napa – very extreme temperatures! The excessive heat accelerated ripening, and we made a quick decision to pull the rest of our fruit on Labor Day 2020. So, at sundown on September 7, 2020, we began harvesting everything we had left in the vineyard. The crew finished up just after 2 A.M.

The grapes came in beautifully, albeit the crop was a little lighter than usual. Thanks to the extreme heat, the berries were a bit riper than our usual target – had we left the fruit on for another few days in the heat, we would have been picking raisins! We’re grateful that we pulled the fruit off when we did…if not for the potential to raisin, for the unprecedented weather that would soon hit California…

On the morning of September 9th [just one day after harvest was complete!], Californians woke up to orange skies and raining ash. The fires were burning far from Napa Valley, but weather patterns blew the heavy smoke towards us. We’ve never seen anything like it. The 2020 Napa Valley harvest proved to be one of the most challenging in history. We are very lucky and honored to share this vintage with you.

2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir Back Label

And now on to our review:

The 2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir opens with an complex, inviting aroma of red and black cherry, strawberry, some earthy forest floor notes, floral notes (roses), a little black tea, touches of baking spice, tomato plant and more. There’s lots to discover here as you swirl and the wine breathes. It’s a very nice start.

Tasting the wine reveals it to be silky smooth and very balanced with similar flavors to the nose. A bit more on the elegant side of things in the mouth, it offers great depth and subtle layers to discover as you sip. It is just lovely to drink.

It ends dry and very long, seriously it just keeps on keeping on. It was just as good on day 2.

Cheers,
Jon

Here’s what people are saying about our Insider Deals:

I have tell you that I have been really, really pleased with this whole reverse wine snob endeavor. The info you provided gives me enough to purchase with confidence. The shipping is unbelievably convenient. The wines are right in that price-tag-sweet-spot. And everything has been just as described. Great job.

Hi Jon, Best thing I ever did is buy wine thru you…not been disappointed with any of them! Thank you SO MUCH!

Just love your site and the great deals on unique small production vino. You do an outstanding job!

Jon, this is a wonderful wine all around. You have become our go-to person for wonderful wines and wine values. Please keep up the excellent job that you’re doing! Regards, a very satisfied customer.

Wow!! Just got my shipment. It is absolutely tremendous.

Another terrific selection from Reverse Wine Snob. Keep up the good work!

I’ve bought a ridiculous amount of wine from your deals in the last year…I just want to say that I really appreciate what you guys have done with RWS. I discovered your site looking up Costco wine reviews and have been hooked on your insider deals ever since. I’ve been referring every friend I know.

I recently took advantage of your offer. So glad I did, and now sorry I did not buy more (like all those quotes on your website!)

I have been buying your Insider Deals for about 3 years now and we have enjoyed every one of them. They are wines that we never would have found on our own…

The only thing I have ever been disappointed in with an Insider Deal is that I didn’t purchase more.

Received my shipment today and just cracked open my first tasting. It blew me away…I guess I have another top pick to my list. Can’t wait for my next glass…

You can count on great value from the wines offered.

the wine is, in a single word, superb! as have been all other wines offered and purchased since I first learnt about you…

love them all so far…Glad we ran across you. Too bad we can not order them all.

Also your prices are pretty amazing.

Hey Jon! You do great work. I’ve bought a bunch of the Insider Deals and probably 80% of the wine I drink comes from them. Great values!

The shipping on the Insider Deals is another great part of the deal. We recently paid $27 to a winery in California to ship 6 bottles (same packaging as the insider deals)….yikes!

Just got my 6 bottles and having my first glass. WHY, WHY didn’t I buy a case??!!

Would you happen to be offering this one again anytime soon? I regret not buying more. This was exceptional!

I am seriously considering having the Insider Deals as my primary go-to. Why did I not do this sooner? Thank you

I love this wine I bought from you!!!! Thanks for doing what do do!!!

This an absolutely amazing wine, Jon…You’ve outdone yourself!

Thanks Jon. We already drank all 6 of the first order so we were ecstatic to see you offering it again. My wife and I both love it.

You are a man after my own heart. I have always looked for the best and least expensive wine and you just made it easier. Cheers!

Hi Jon, well, I did something people have warned about – bought 6 bottles and should have bought 12!

Have had nothing but great bottles since I started ordering your recommendations. Thanks so much!

We’ve gotten in on three of the deals and have been VERY happy with the value. I originally was going to do a wine club thing but the insider deal appeals to me much more.

I really missed the boat by only getting four bottles of this offer last month. Should have bought least at a case.

My wife and I have really enjoyed getting to know new wines (and better than we used to buy!) Thanks for what you do and providing this service!

Jon – you have to stop offering all of these amazing deals. My self discipline is fading fast!!

The wine is outstanding. I am so glad I bought a case.

I only drink Reverse Wine Snob wine, it actually doesn’t make sense to buy from a store. You don’t get anything interesting, unique, and full of value otherwise.

Jon, I should have bought more! Delicious!!

I am a Certified Specialist of Wine. I love your deals. You pick great wines!! Kudos to you for getting us great deals!

Wish I would have ordered more!! It was great. Looking back, I wish I didn’t open it at our annual pool party. It’s gone. **Sob**

Hi Jon, just had to let you know that I love this wine!!!! Thanks for doing what you do.

I have purchased many times over the last several months and loved the wines!

Seriously amazing deal!!! I love a bold red, and Reverse Wine Snob delivered!!! Perfect for a rainy night!!

AMAZING!! Damn, I should have bought a CASE!!

WOW. Just… wow. Absolutely delicious. If I knew it was going to be this good, I would have bought a case… or two. This was dead-center in the sweet spot of what I like. Thank you!!

I have loved all my RWS deals, can’t wait to get this one.

I know that you don’t need to have ‘customers’ email you every time they like a wine that you have suggested/rated, and I have enjoyed many of your recommendations. But this Tannat was spectacular! Wow! That was amazing!

I finally opened a bottle of this and it did not disappoint. Delicious!!!

Thanks for a great service! We’ve been loving your emails and wine deals!

This insider deal is a great wine!!! So glad I got it!!

I’ve gotten quite a few of these and loved them all — keep them coming!

Bought a case wish I had purchased 2-3 cases. Fantastic buy for the price.

We purchased several times and have been massively impressed. Thank you.

I love your approach to wine and all the great wine finds out there. It’s tempting to order almost every time you send out a deal. Keep up the great work, truly appreciated.

Wish I had doubled my order!

By the way, you guys have a great company – smart concept, well executed. I may never have to make another trek to the wine store again. And your customer service is pretty darn good. Thank you.

I am very much enjoying the wines I have been getting from you. I have discontinued all other wine services as the quality of the wines you select seem superior to what I was receiving elsewhere.

That’s tremendous…I wish I had tripled my order.

Get the 2020 Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir 3-Pack while you can! It ends Wednesday 8/12 at noon Pacific.

If you have more questions or any trouble ordering, please check out our FAQ or just click the Help button at checkout! No account is necessary to save your info for future orders or to checkout. GPay and Apple Pay are also enabled.
