Summer 2026 Shipping Info
Shipping is a flat $9.99 per order, no matter how many packs you buy. This applies to both Summer Shipments AND Summer Holds. Summer Shipments also have an additional charge built into the product price for the heat protection package. Here’s how it works:
Summer Ship (+$8 for the Heat Protection Package) – Packages ship in styrofoam and use refrigerated shipping. This includes refrigerated trucks to local hubs for the South, Midwest and East Coast and internal refrigeration (ice packs) in boxes for the West Coast (AZ, CA, ID, NV, OR, WA). Final delivery will be on regular UPS trucks without refrigeration (just like last year), thus the reason for the styrofoam.
Note that unlike last year, packages will not go 2-day air as the refrigerated trucks are a better option, however this will add additional transit time. Trucks will only pick up from our shipper once per week so with our normal order processing time of up to 10 days before orders are sent out, packages will likely take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to arrive in-home.
These orders have an additional cost of $8 built into the product price for this Heat Protection Package. It is NOT possible (nor would it be advisable!) to purchase a deal with summer shipping without also including the Heat Protection Package.
Summer Hold – Buy your wine now and have your shipment held in a temperature controlled warehouse for delivery in October! While we take every precaution we can with our Summer Shipping protocol, we also know that many of you travel or live in very hot areas where you don’t want to risk it (or you simply detest styrofoam).
Please note this is not a “ship-at-will” program, all your summer hold orders will ship (in cardboard/no styrofoam) at a date of our choosing in mid-October once temperatures have cooled down. Please read this post for important info to determine if the Summer Hold program is right for you.
If this is your first time ordering please check out the shipping section of our FAQ for more information.
For your convenience you also have the option to select a UPS Store/Access Point to ship to at checkout (with no additional pickup fee) so you don’t have to be home to sign! For Summer Hold orders whatever shipping location option you choose at checkout (ship to home or ship to UPS Store/Access Point) will apply in October.

And now on to our review:
The 2019 Michel-Schlumberger Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah pours super dark in glass just like you would expect with this variety. It has an inviting, complex aroma of dark berry fruit with some baking spice plus vanilla, cedar and licorice. Even more comes out with time in the glass so take your time with this one and give it some air. It’s an excellent start.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be deep, dark and a bit meaty with a smooth, lush mouthfeel and all the same notes as the nose. Full of juicy dark fruit and well-integrated spice it also has great depth and plenty of acidity. And it just keeps on getting better the longer it is open. This is a wonderful example of Petite Sirah.
It ends dry, deep and long on the satisfying finish and was just as good on day 2. We love it!

The 2019 Michel-Schlumberger Dry Creek Valley Petit Verdot also pours very dark and inky in the glass, just as you would expect with a 100% Petit Verdot. It opens with a strong, attractive aroma full of ripe, dark berry fruit along with touches of baking spice and forest floor.
The wine tastes deliciously deep and tannic and has softened wonderfully with age. It features all those same flavors as the nose with good balance and complexity.
It ends dry, very long and a bit chewy. This is a really nice example of Petit Verdot that is highly drinkable but also not for the faint of heart! It might have been its best on day 2 where it softened even a bit more.

The 2018 Michel-Schlumberger Dry Creek Valley Vin De Coteaux Red opens with an attractive aroma of black cherry and other dark berry fruits, touches of baking spice and cigar box plus hints of licorice and an earthy, herbal note. It’s a very nice start!
