The 2016 vintage had a dry growing season with a moderate crop load, and the mild temperatures contributed to slow ripening and intense flavor of the grapes. We selected the best lots of Merlot, Zinfandel and Syrah from Jack London ranch to create this captivating blend. The wine was aged in quality barrels for a year and a half to add balance and complexity.

The 2016 Kenwood Jack London Vineyard Sonoma Mountain Red Blend opens with quite an attractive aroma full of plum and ripe berry fruit, nice spice and touches of vanilla.
The smooth and substantial wine tastes quite good and features nice depth and concentration on the ripe, juicy berry fruit. Featuring plenty of well (but not overly) done oak influence, this is pretty darn delicious. It's Zin based but the Merlot and Syrah add some lovely layers as well to this really tasty blend.
It ends dry, quite long, savory and even a bit dusty. I love it.
