Lamadrid Cabernet Franc Reserva - Really Darn Delicious

By: Jon Thorsen Published: June 17, 2021 Last Updated: January 27, 2023

A Costco Bulk Buy on the single vineyard Lamadrid Cabernet Franc Reserva from Mendoza, Argentina.

Lamadrid Cabernet Franc Reserva - Really Darn Delicious

100% Cabernet Francfrom the La Suiza vineyard in Agrelo, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is aged for 14 months in 50% second use and 50% third use French oak and has just 2.15 g/L of residual sugar.

The Lamadrid Cabernet Franc has an SRP of $20 but we found it at Costco for just $12.99. No Costco in your area? Check your local retailers for this wine. It is imported by Vino del Sol and only 1,800 cases were produced.

    From the bottle:

"Lamadrid renders homage to my mother, the woman who opened the door to give me the chance to live and unfold my wings to enjoy the magic of life."
    Guillermo Garcia Lamadrid, Wine Grower

This single vineyard Reserva line from Agrelo reflects the identity of a privileged terroir in a select area of Mendoza, at the foothills of the Andes. The balance of fruit and well integrated oak in this reserve line results in unique and expressive wines with exceptional quality. Sustainably farmed and estate bottled.

Produced and Bottled by Bodega Lamadrid
    13.9% Alcohol

The 2017 Lamadrid Cabernet Franc Reserva begins with a very pleasing aroma of blueberry, spice, mint, licorice, a little leather and more.

The wine tastes absolutely delicious! With good complexity, good balance and good structure the wine tastes just as good as the 2013 vintage we tasted when we visited the winery a few years ago.

It ends dry, grippy, chewy and very long.

This is another excellent Cabernet Franc from Argentina. In fact, I might even like this variety even better than the excellent Argentinean Malbec everyone knows and loves. If you haven't explored Cab Franc from Argentina this is definitely an area to check out.

No Costco in your area? Check your local retailers for this wine.
